Hello masa-heads,
Happy Sunday. I am writing to you all from Monte Rio, a small little town on the Russian River, just southwest of Guerneville. A weekend spent cooking elaborate dinners and slowing down, soaking in a hot tub under the redwoods away from routines and living spaces is a real treat. I hope you found some space and time to slow down this weekend.
Thanksgiving Orders
I am still undecided if I should make orders available for the week of Thanksgiving. If I offer masa for tamales, do you want to make turkey tamales with your leftover turkey? Or do you think you will be burned out? I have a little poll for you to fill out of you care to. Thank you!
Pop-Up / Market Dates
I will be at Degrees Plato for a Collaboration Dinner with Popoca on Monday November 8th from 3:00p-8:00p (or sold out). Anthony Salguero is one of the Bay Area’s most talented young chefs and I am so excited to cook alongside him. The menu is simple, rustic, heavily inspired by our shared experience with masa and our conversation around seasonality. Beef tartare tostadas! Salt cod & potato tamal!
Also, out LAST Thursday Mission Mercado is this Thursday!! Come say hi! We’ll be back in March when the Market returns!

Things to Check Out
There’s a great feature in Bon Appetit about Anthony and Popoca from 2020 that I encourage you to read/re-read.
I’ve been reintroducing myself to César Aira, reading How I Became a Nun for the first time and re-reading Ghosts. Highly recommend adding some Aira to your reading list.
